About

The Full Story

I started gaming during  the late 70s when I found my high school had a wargaming club.  The club was focused on historical games.  The American Civil War and WWII featured prominently, but my interests were always slanted toward Medieval and Ancient periods.  Parallel and in concert to that interest was my love of fantasy and science ficition.  I had discovered Tolkien and devoured both the LOTR and the Hobbit.  Searching for more, I was introduced to Conan, Fafrhd and the Grey Mouser, and Elric of Melnibone.

I longed for a decent battle game based on these stories.  The few Medieval or Ancient based board games of the time offered a poor substitute.  Then my club purchased a game based on three little white books.  Instead of large battles, the combat was man-to-man (or perhaps man-to-monster) and featured a narrative story that built along with the game.  With that, I found the game for which I longed.

This project is an attempt to recapture that game and that feeling.  Some may see this as nostalgia.  I however believe that some of that initial energy and fun can be recovered by returning to the roots and simplicity of that era.  Mythic Heroes and Legends is my attempt at this.  I do hope you enjoy it.
